Autumn birthday loveliness in the Lakes

Al and I went up to the Lake District for a lovely long weekend in late October for my birthday. We stayed in Keswick in a fabulous B&B called Howe Keld which I highly recommend. It turned out to be fantastically located - just 3 minutes or so to the loveliest lake in the Lake District IMHO (Derwentwater) and just 3 minutes into town for lots of cafes, bars and restaurants. The autumn colour didn't disappoint - and although we had a couple of grey, wet days, the scenery was still take-your-breath-away stunning. And our last day was glorious sunshine making those gorgeous leaves positively glow. Thoroughly magical and restorative. Can't wait to go back for more! Here are a few of my fave photos from the trip. The pinky toned ones are from some dawn photography on the morning we left - was hard to tear ourselves away! More on Flickr in my Lake District set.
